Charles Hunt II, MD, FACS, RVT

Dr. Charles Austin Hunt, II, MD, FACS, RVT, of Alabama Vein & Restoration Medspa, is highly skilled in the field of Phlebology (vein specialist), general surgery, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery. Dr. Hunt has 20+ years of experience in vascular medicine.
In 1996, he completed both his undergraduate and medical degree at the University of Indiana, in Indianapolis. He completed his residency in Birmingham, Alabama, at Carraway Medical Center, and received his specialization in cardiovascular medicine at the AB Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
Dr. Hunt specializes in the treatment of vein disorders using modern technologies, such as endovenous laser ablation, microphlebectomy, and sclerotherapy.
In addition to being a highly credentialed board certified surgeon, Dr. Hunt has also been extensively trained in injectable aesthetic procedures to include the use of Botox and Juvederm and Dysport.
When not taking care of patients, Dr. Hunt enjoys kayak fishing, writing, horticulture and spending time with his family.
Catesby Ulversoy, PA-C
Certified Physician’s Assistant
A Georgia native, Catesby moved to Alabama and joined the “Vein Train” in 2023. After training under Dr. Hunt to learn the intricacies of venous disease and completing additional training in ultrasonography and sclerotherapy, she has become a valued member of our team. Her favorite services include assisting with varicose vein removal and injecting spider veins.
After work she can be found exploring Birmingham with her husband, taking a hike with her dog, or enjoying time on the water.

Practice Administrator
Michelle was born and raised in Birmingham. She graduated from UAB and has over 20 years of managerial experience with exposure to Primary Care, General Surgery, and Dermatology.
She enjoys outdoor activities like water sports, kayaking, and hiking. She likes to cook and try new foods and experience new adventures. Michelle considers her happy place to be Smith Lake with her family.
Brian Sponder
Systems Admin (IT)
Brian is our Systems Administrator and marketing liaison. Brian maintains the backbone to our infrastructure by solidifying a proper communications network between our home base and our satellite locations. Brian assures all patient electronic health record data is accessible and secured at all times. In addition to IT services, Brian creates our ad copy, monthly newsletter and is our point of contact for our advertisement vendors. Brian has been an integral part of this organization for 13+ years.
Brian spends his downtime fishing, riding mountain bikes and motorcycles.

Registered Nurse
Taelar is a Registered Nurse with past ICU experience.
Taelar is a very detail oriented and takes extra time to ensure each patient is informed regarding their plan of care. Taelar assures the facility electronic health records are perfectly accurate. Taelar offers exceptional patient care during consultations and assists in surgical procedures as an OR circulator.
Taelar spends her free time dabbling in music and artistry and purveyor of good coffee.

Lisa is an experienced insurance specialist assuring pre-determination insurance coverage for our patients. Lisa works closely with our billing department to ensure our patients are well informed of any financial obligations prior to any services being performed. Lisa has been our insurance secretary for 15+ years.
Sherry Lastrapes
Front Desk Coordinator
Sherry Lastrapes brings with her 24 years of experience in the medical field. Since graduating from Wallace Community College of Selma, she has fine tuned her skills and gained a wealth of knowledge/exposure in the areas of medical/surgical, plasmapheresis and cardiology, to name a few. Sherry has chosen to redirect her focus to providing excellent patient service.
During her free time, she enjoys spoiling, playing, and relaxing with her miniature schnauzers. Also, she enjoys playing retro video games with her husband (Retired Navy Veteran).

Sue is one of our talented sonographers that perform diagnostic ultrasound studies on our patients. The information gathered in these studies play a crucial role in the determination of what the best plan of care will be for each patient. Sue has been with our organization for 10+ years.
Sue enjoys her off time traveling with her family.
