Don’t Worry About Recovering from Venous Treatment!

ANYTIME YOU HAVE A PROCEDURE OF ANY KIND, YOU CAN PRETTY MUCH EXPECT THERE TO BE SOME KIND OF A RECOVERY PERIOD.

While most of the treatments we offer at the Alabama Vein Centers are simple outpatient procedures, they do bring with them a recovery time. However, this is nothing to be overly concerned about, as long as you follow the directions your healthcare provider gives you and rest up adequately afterward, you should be up and at’em soon enough.

The procedures we use are so low intensity that, for most patients, an ibuprofen is usually the only painkiller they need. Rarely are the symptoms experienced after the surgery severe or limiting. In fact, what we hear from patients is the majority of the time if you were experiencing pain before the procedure, what you experience during recovery will be less severe.

While the recovery may not be intense, there are still some steps that are recommended for you to follow after the surgery:

  • Take it easy. If you feel the need to get up and start taking care of things around the house, stop. Those chores can wait.
  • Prop up your legs. While seated, be sure to prop up your legs for the amount of time your doctor had instructed you.
  • Ask questions. If you are concerned about anything in your recovery or feel like something is unusual, let us know.

Be aware that there may be some swelling or bruising visible on your leg after you remove the bandages. Don’t be alarmed, this is completely normal and they should heal properly as long as you follow whatever orders your doctor has given you. As always, if you have any additional questions or concerns, explore our website or give us a call. We’re here to help you and offer you peace of mind, every step of the way, pre- and post-procedure.
