Permanent makeup, also called micropigmentation, is not actually makeup at all. It is a type of cosmetic tattooing, using pigments to achieve the appearance of makeup.
Permanent makeup can replace the daily topical application of eyeliner, winged eyeliner, wedged eyeliner, lip liner, or eyebrow pencil. You can then use your preferred foundation, lip color, and eyeshadow as desired.
Pigmentation is applied in the dermal layer of the skin using a machine, it is a gentle tattooing process. Permanent makeup is safe and painless as long as you have the process done by a licensed, experienced permanent makeup artist.
During your initial consultation, your permanent makeup artist discusses if permanent makeup is ideal for you based on your skin type, complexion, and desired style.
Permanent makeup application may not be the best option for you if:
Unless these contraindications apply to you, this process holds little risk for complications.
Other factors to consider associated with SKIN TYPE before receiving LIP COLOR tattoo include:
Darker skin tones contain more melanin than lighter toned lips, so there is a HIGH risk of irreversible and permanent hyperpigmentation. Often multiple neutralization sessions will be needed before adding any pink or red color. Dark pigmentation is neutralized with only orange pigment for the first 1-2 sessions. Please email us at email@example.com before booking to see if we are able to offer you treatment!
If you have have spent a lot of time in the sun or in tanning beds during your life, you may have sun damage on your lips. In this case, you should expect to need more sessions as pigment tends to be harder to implant and often will heal patchy. You will also be more sensitive to the pain. I will only use light and natural colors for those with sun damage, bright colors will highlight areas that are resistant to pigment and will not fade nicely. Email us a photo if you think you may have sun damage to discuss further.
After your initial consultation, you and your permanent makeup artist make a plan for your permanent makeup application that meets your goals as closely as possible. They draw lines on your face that serve as a guide for application, and help you know what to expect.
Your permanent makeup artist applies the pigment using a facial tattooing machine with very fine sterilized needles. During the treatment, you feel the vibration of the machine against your skin, but it shouldn’t cause any discomfort.
The process usually takes between 1-3 hours, and varies with each person depending on the work being done. Your new coloring is darker than normal immediately after treatment, and will fade approximately 40% lighter as you heal. Healing can take up to 6 weeks from your initial procedure.
A follow-up appointment is needed 6-12 weeks after your first treatment. During this session, your permanent makeup artist evaluates your coloring and may retouch any area that needs to be adjusted.
Absolutely, we have seen many patients that have had previous permanent makeup treatments done elsewhere and are looking to remove what had been done or they want us to correct / improve their brows. During your consultation our permanent makeup artist can determine if it can be redrawn and corrected without lightening the previous work done or if we need to lighten the areas before moving forward.
The lightening process is safe, easy, and effective.
We use Li-ft pigment lightening solution, it is safe for permanent makeup on the face and for different areas of the body to lighten body tattoos. This product should only be used by trained and licensed professionals only, our permanent makeup artist is a member of SPCP (Society for Permanent Cosmetic Professionals) with years of training and is a licensed professional with certifications in training of Bloodborne Pathogens and Infection Control.
Treatments are $200 / session set 8 weeks apart. Multiple sessions are usually necessary to achieve desired results.
Results will vary depending on but not limited to clients own skin and healing process, type of pigment to be removed, depth of pigment placement, technique used, needle used and after care regiment followed.
